2021 SMS: SHIRAZ MALBEC SANGIOVESE
Red/blue fruits. Ripe and rounded with bright aromatic lift. Dried raspberry and blood plum. Soft spice, anise and cinnamon. Gentle tannins that fill the mouth.

“Shiraz, Malbec, Sangiovese. I like this GilGraves outfit very much. Pure and delicious wines. Squeaky textured and bright and vibrant, very fresh, pure feeling, cherry juice and cranberry, good dusting of sweet spice, faint fennel and mint notes. So lovely. Pretty medium weight, the silkiest of tannins. Such a great drink here. Welcome all comers.”
MAKER’S NOTES – TIM FROM BOOMTOWN
Farmed organically at the GIlGraves vineyard in Axedale, Central Victoria, grown in decomposed granitic sands and planted between 2012-2015.
This is a full vineyard, true field blend style having been picked in March 2021, balancing ripeness across the four varieties in the mix, but leaning on Shiraz as a guide. Shiraz, Malbec, Sangiovese and a whisker of Viognier. !00% de stemmed and fermented wild in an open vat over 3 weeks. Pressed to hogs heads and aged on fine lees for 10 months. Bottled with minimal sulphur in February 2022 with no filtering.
